Ten Paces at High Noon

Holster. Draw. Fire.

Your phone is the six-shooter. Hold it upside down at your side like a gun in its holster. Wait for the bell. Then flip it up, tilt to aim and tap to fire before the other gunslinger does.

Real gameplay, recorded from the game.

Ten paces. One bell.

How the draw works

The street empties, the clock strikes high noon, and whoever draws cleanest walks away. Three moves, and every one of them is the phone in your hand.

  1. The duel screen asks you to holster your phone: hold it upside down at your side

    Holster

Hold the phone upside down at your side, barrel to the dirt. The street goes quiet. “Ready… Steady…”

  2. DRAW! lettered across the street as the bell rings, the outlaw still standing

    Wait for the bell

A random breath, then the bell rings and the phone buzzes. DRAW! Jump the gun and your iron jams.

  3. First person: the revolver fires, the sights on the outlaw’s chest, his health bar dropping

    Flip, aim, fire

Flip it up, tilt to put your sights on them and tap to fire. Head, body or legs: where the bullet lands decides how hard it hits.

Reload by tipping the barrel down to swing out the cylinder, then tap in each round.

Rather use your thumbs? Full touch controls: hold the holster pad, drag to aim, tap to fire.

Gyro aiming if you like to turn and track. Calibrate, invert, portrait or landscape.

One item per duel. Every one has an answer.

Fight back

Lassos, pocket sand, dynamite and jars of wasps come out of the General Store. They give an edge in a shootout, never the whole duel, because whoever gets hit can do something about it.

The lasso, both ways. String them up by the boots, or hang there yourself and shake loose.
  • Your view flipped upside down by a lasso, with SHAKE TO BREAK FREE! and a fraying-rope meter

    Roped? Shake loose.

Get lassoed and your whole view flips upside down. Shake the phone to fray the rope and drop back into the fight.

  • Pocket sand covers the screen; a finger has wiped a clear streak across it

Sand in your eyes? Wipe it.

Pocket sand, chili or smoke covers the glass. Swipe it off with your finger, fast.

  • A powder keg blown up in mid-air: SHOT IT DOWN!

    Dynamite? Shoot it down.

A lit stick or a whole keg arcs your way. Put a bullet in it before it lands.

  • Wasps crawling over the screen in front of the outlaw

    Wasps? Swat ’em.

A smashed jar sends wasps across your screen. Every one you tap is a sting you don’t take.

Shot it down! Track the keg with your sights and blow it up in mid-air.

Also on the shelves: speedloaders, Hot Loads, tin stars and iron plates, steel-lined hats and tonics you drink mid-fight.

A gang’s Hideout: the gang’s banner and emblem, its level, and the Buy a Round and Gang Banner buttons

Questions

What is Ten Paces at High Noon?

A quick-draw western duel game for phones. You face an outlaw at high noon, holster your phone upside down at your side, wait for the bell, then flip it up, tilt to aim and tap to fire. Fifty levels of outlaws, live duels against other players, gangs, seasons and weekly events.

Which phones can play it?

Ten Paces is an app for Android phones and iPhone. The Android version comes first on Google Play, and the iPhone version follows on the App Store. Motion aiming uses the phone’s gyro and accelerometer, which nearly every phone has; without them, the game switches to touch controls.

Can I duel my friends at high noon?

Yes. In the Saloon you can take up an Open Challenge from another player, or call out a friend with a four-letter code for a live high noon showdown. Gangs let you and your friends ride together.

What does it cost?

Nothing to download and play. Dollars are earned in duels. Gold nuggets, the game’s rarer currency, also come from the daily Mailbag, boss loot and gang wars, or in optional packs from the store. The Silver Saddle (the season pass’s second track) is an optional purchase too. Grab Bag odds are printed before you buy.

Are there ads?

Only if you ask for one. A short sponsor video can top up a point of stamina or double a bounty. You choose to watch it, you can skip it, and nothing is ever forced on you.

What languages does it speak?

English, Arabic (with a full right-to-left layout) and Simplified Chinese. The game picks your phone’s language, and you can change it in Settings.

Can I play offline?

Yes. The Wanted Board, Quick Duels, target practice on the Straw Dummy and every shop work without a connection. Live duels in the Saloon, gangs and the leaderboards need the internet.

Do I have to swing my phone around?

Only as much as a real draw: down at your side, then up to aim. Keep a good grip and some room around you. If you’d rather sit still, full touch controls do the same job with your thumbs.

Do I need an account?

No. Your progress is saved on your phone. Read what goes online, and why, in the privacy policy.

Who do I talk to?

Write to support@tenpaces.app, or see the support page. Writing about the game? The press kit has the fact sheet, icon, screenshots and clips.
